Our deep hole drilling services encompass a wide range of capabilities, from ejector and solid drilling to trepanning, offering both on-center and off-center holes. We accommodate ID sizes ranging from .984” to 8.00” ID in lengths up to 415”. This combination of diameters and lengths allows us to cater to a number of applications, including drill collars, drilling either from one side only or from both ends. Additionally, we trepan ID sizes ranging from 6.50” to 14.00” ID up to 200+” long. Our expertise extends across a variety of materials, ensuring we can meet the specific requirements of our clients' projects.

With a combination of traditional and proprietary push and pull bore capabilities, HDH Instruments can support an extensive range of tube boring requirements. We can handle diameters ranging from 1.80” to 8.50” ID in lengths up to 45 feet, processing all different types of metals, ranging from carbon steel to nickel alloys. Common applications for this process are the manufacturing of stator tubes, blast joints, PBR’s, and tubing conversion of OCTG Casing / Tubing.

Specializing in small-diameter gun drilling, HDH Instruments maintains precision across a full range of metallic materials as well as some plastics. Our gun drilling services are meticulously executed on-center, with capabilities from .055” to 1.50” ID and lengths reaching up to 150”, depending on the OD and ID sizes. This precise drilling method is ideal for creating deep, straight holes in parts where accuracy is paramount.

We provide both vertical and horizontal honing, specializing in finished machined parts, fine finishes, and complex bore geometries, including blind end and double-blind end bores. Our honing capabilities range from .0625” to 20.00” ID, with lengths up to 600”. This process is crucial for achieving the desired surface finish and dimensional accuracy of internal bores.

Our turning services deliver exceptional quality, holding tolerances and concentricity as tight as .005”. Capable of handling parts from the very small to those nearly too large for a tractor-trailer, our OD turning capabilities cover up to 26.00” OD and lengths up to 492”. Specializing in turning precision tubes, we ensure tight concentricity and straightness, essential for high-performance applications.

Beyond our core offerings, we provide sawing and material handling services to support the comprehensive needs of our clients. Our sawing capabilities cater to all materials up to 20” diameter, while our straightening services, with presses ranging from 1,000 to 50 tons, can accommodate lengths up to 45 ft and diameters up to 16.50” OD.
Machinery & Equipment
HDH Instruments operates out of a state-of-the-art facility spanning over 225,000 square feet, housing an extensive array of over 100 precision machine tools. Our equipment lineup includes 33 deep hole drilling/boring machines, 8 gun drilling machines, and 25 honing machines (both vertical and horizontal), alongside 26 hollow spindle lathes, 7 CNC lathes, and 7 straightening presses.
This diverse and robust machinery enables us to undertake projects of any scale, ensuring precision, efficiency, and quality.
